Grammar A2 - Past Simple Tense - regular and irregular verbs

The simple past tense is used to describe actions that happened and were completed at a specific time in the past.

Regular Verbs:

Regular verbs in the simple past tense are formed by adding -ed to the base form of the verb.

Example:

Base verb: walk → walked

Sentence: I walked to the store yesterday.

Irregular Verbs:

Irregular verbs do not follow a regular pattern. They have unique past forms that need to be memorized.

Example:

Base verb: go → went

Sentence: She went to the cinema last night.

Important points to remember:

Regular verbs: Add -ed for affirmative sentences.
