Liam visits his grandma every weekend. She has a big garden full of vegetables. He helps her pick fresh food for lunch.
First, they pull carrots and radishes from the ground. Then they cut broccoli, cauliflower, and dark green kale from the garden beds. Grandma says, “Kale is strong and healthy!”
Next, they gather green beans, asparagus, and some soft zucchini. Liam puts them in a basket. “These are my favorite!” he says.
In the other part of the garden, they find lettuce, spinach, and a big cabbage. Grandma also picks a red bell pepper and a purple eggplant for her soup.
From the storage box, they bring out potatoes and sweet potatoes. Liam washes them while Grandma slices a long green cucumber and some crunchy celery for a salad.
At lunch, they eat soup, salad, and baked vegetables. Liam says, “Your garden is the best, Grandma!”
