Grammar A2 - Quantifiers

Quantifiers are words used to indicate quantity or amount. They are often used before nouns to provide more information about how many or how much of something we are referring to.

EXAMPLES:

A few - used with countable nouns (things we can count).

Example: I have a little water left. (Meaning: a small amount)

Much - used with uncountable nouns in negative sentences and questions.

Example: How much sugar do we need? (Meaning: a large amount)

Example: There isn’t much coffee left. (Negative)

Many - used with countable nouns.

Example: There are many books on the shelf. (Meaning: a large number)

EXAMPLES:

  • Countable nouns: - apples, books, chairs, people.
  • Uncountable nouns: water, milk, sugar, coffee.
1. There are people in the park.
2. I don’t have money left in my wallet.
3. How books did you buy at the store?
4. There is sugar in my tea.
5. We need eggs to make the cake.
6. I don’t have time to finish the project.
7. students in the class speak English fluently.
8. There is milk in the fridge.
9. She only has friends in this city.
10. How money do you need for the trip?
11. There is water in the bottle.
12. He has homework to do tonight.
13. I bought oranges at the market.
14. There is air in this room.
15. We don’t have food left in the fridge.
16. He didn’t drink coffee this morning.
17. There are cookies on the table.
18. There is juice in the fridge.
19. I see people at the party.
